Moot Court
A law court simulation to stimulate and perhaps encourage your desire to win every argument. The State vs. You is an event that requires you to channel your inner Elle Woods and back up your statements with precedent and evidence
RULES
● Number of participants: 2
● Duration: 3 minutes for speech per person and 1 minute for rebuttal
● The case study will be provided a week before the event.
● Each speaker must be prepared with points for both prosecution and the defence. The order and opponents will be chosen via a draw of lots.
● The judges may question you about your speech or the memorial at any point of time while you are speaking, and the opponent may pose one question regarding your speech after the round is over.
● A memorial including the plea is required to be submitted to the Youthopia ’23 email ID a day before the event, with the points and citations for both sides.
● The use of unparliamentary language will not be entertained and may result in disqualification of the offending team.
● The judge’s decision will be final.
